Family Support Events

Our Maternal & Child Health (MCH) team here at North Shore Health Department host a few events throughout the year that support families in various ways.

Parent Social Groups:

Our MCH team helps facilitate caregiver social groups, often in partnership with North Shore Libraries, to provide space to socialize, offer relevant public health information, and answer any questions about our MCH programs.

Breastfeeding Support Groups:

Our MCH team are Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC) and organize breastfeeding support circles for parents looking for group support.

  • Breastfeeding and infant feeding guidance

  • Pumping and milk expression support

  • Parent recovery and postpartum health education

  • Identifying common feeding challenges and when to seek help

  • Screening for postpartum depression and emotional well-being

  • Infant growth, feeding patterns, and normal development

  • Returning to work or school and feeding planning

  • Connections to ongoing lactation and community resources

Safe Swimming:

Our MCH team has hosted a safe swim day for children to learn life saving skills while swimming. This usually takes place at the Brown Deer Village Pond. Visit our events page to see if we have any upcoming safe swimming events!
